At the Evanston Rodeo Series, we proudly deliver the classic rodeo events fans know and love—one heart-pounding moment right after another. From the first ride to the final bull, we keep the energy high and the action nonstop.

Kicking Things Off: Junior Steer Riding

We begin most performances with Junior Steer Riding, giving young cowboys and cowgirls (ages 10–14) a chance to show their grit on the path to becoming future bull riders.

Roping, Riding, and Rowdy Fun

You’ll likely catch Tie-Down Roping early on, followed by a thrilling section of Bareback Riding. Just when you’re catching your breath, our first Clown Act will have you laughing out loud.

Next comes Lady’s Breakaway Roping—similar to tie-down, but faster-paced and every bit as exciting. Then our junior contestants step into the arena for their turn in Junior Breakaway Roping.

A Crowd Favorite: The Chicken Chase

Midway through the show, we invite the little ones into the arena for the ever-popular Chicken Chase! Divided into three age groups (5 & under, 6–7, and 8–9), kids race to catch elusive chickens for fun prizes. It’s wild, it’s hilarious, and it’s a must-see!

Back to the Action

After a quick dose of fun, it’s back to rodeo business with the first round of #10 Team Roping, followed closely by Saddle Bronc Riding. You’ll laugh again during our second Clown Act, then sit back and watch the dust fly during our fan-favorite:

Beautiful Women on Fast Horses

Also known as Lady’s Barrel Racing, this precision event sees our female athletes race through a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels at top speed. It’s fast, it’s fierce, and it’s followed by the Junior Barrel Racing division.

Wrapping Up With a Bang

We close out with #13 Team Roping, and then comes the Terminator Steer—a final showdown where the top-scoring Junior Steer Rider takes on a fierce steer for a big cash prize.

And just when you think the night can’t get any more thrilling…

The Grand Finale: Bull Riding

Nothing tops the adrenaline rush of Bull Riding, our grand finale that leaves the crowd on the edge of their seats.
